Monitor baru - 2

Kelakar betul. Kata nak beli monitor baru tapi tak beli pun.

Aku dah mencari dan meneliti. Malah aku juga sudah melihat monitor yang bersesuaian di Low Yat. Tetapi, keperluan dah berubah. Atas sebab mudahalih, aku sudah membandingkan berat monitor biasa. Monitor 15 inci sekurang2nya 10kg beratnya. Berat juga tu. Monitor LCD pula 3kg ke atas. Monitor LCD pun bersaiz lebih kecil, cuma lebih mahal. Sekurang2nya RM600 untuk monitor LCD 15 inci. Aku pun mula melihat monitor sebegini, sehinggakan di PC Fair pun aku cuba melihat. Cuma masih belum membeli. Perlu memikirkan banyak perkara sebelum membelinya walaupun tahu aku amat perlukan monitor baru.

Naza 206 Bestari

The fact that Naza 206 Bestari (formerly known as NX02) is based on Peugeot 206 is not suprising, but that it is an exact copy does. Other than the badge, Bestari is an exact copy of Peugeot 206. Even the tyre rims are Peugeot’s. However, it does not make Bestari a bad car, as it is based on a best-selling model. Naza and Peugeot can easily export it with Peugeot badge to ASEAN countries. The only thing that needs to be done is to comply with the local content requirement to ensure that it can be taxed at AFTA rates.

206 Bestari has a 1.4-litre engine with auto transmission, ABS and airbags. Manual transmission will come soon. At RM69k, the price is quite competitive against its direct rivals such as Hyundai Getz, Chevrolet Aveo, Suzuki Swift, Honda Jazz, Toyota Yaris etc. However, in terms of local brands, it is quite expensive. For example, Waja that is bigger than Bestari is available at RM60k. Most direct rivals mentioned are priced higher than RM69k. However, Inokom Getz will be coming soon and should be priced competitively against Bestari. The fact that local contents are low could be the factor that Bestari is priced as such.

Bestari is based on a good car but it is already at the end of its life because Peugeot has come up with 207 this year. However, 206 will continue to be sold at some markets for quite some time yet, and Naza 206 Bestari is one of them. Have a good look and Bestari and decide for yourself if it is the one for you.

Other local cars are coming

Proton SRM is coming, while Naza will come out with NX-02 model based on Peugeot 206, to be priced at RM60k-70k bracket. Will SRM show another improvement in Proton’s capability in designing its own car? Will SRM show a giant leap in interior quality? Unlike Naza, Proton must respond to customers’ demand for high quality and reliability, as these are what have been Proton’s failings all these years. Both are coming very soon, with Naza already coming out with the ad announcing NX-02 is open for booking. Spyshots of SRM are available at Paul Tan’s blog.

Naza Sutera

Basically, Naza Sutera is based on Hafei Lobo from China. However, Pininfarina designed the first model and Lotus Engineering was also involved. The 1.1-litre engine was based on a Japanese engine. Therefore, the basic car was already competent enough. Our local boys had managed to improve it to suit our local taste and therefore what we are seeing now is the result of their effort.

The exterior is a vast improvement from the original one, most notably the bumper and lights. Unfortunately, Naza has kept the basic engineering alone for cost reason, which means that the front signal lights at the base of the A-pillar and a triangular rear light cluster survives. Some may have issues with those design details, but Naza has given them a better light design than the original. Some even pointed out that they don’t like the look at the back due to the rear lights. Also, the gap for the bonnet seems huge and unacceptable.

Fortunately, the interior is much better. Even though the design is quite basic, Naza has managed to inject some quality feel to it through the use of better materials to get the fit and finish that buyers are looking for. Airbag is standard, but ABS is not. The only consolation is that its other rivals can’t even offer any at Sutera’s current price.

From first impression, Naza Sutera should be able to catch the market. At RM35k-37k, it is very competitive against its direct and indirect rivals such as Kelisa, Kenari, Myvi, Savvy, Atos Prima and the likes. As you can see, other than Kelisa, other rivals are priced starting at RM38k above. Those upgrading from a smaller car or thinking of buying their first car should consider Sutera. Sceptics may point out its China origin as having lower quality but if Naza can prove them wrong, Naza is on to a winner. The power of Internet means that some first owners will tell their story, so wait for that.

As for me, sorry, I have other cars in mind. I have problems with its exterior styling that I have mentioned above. However, the interior’s fit and finish really won me over. Proton should buck up now as Sutera can easily eat into Savvy’s sales.
