Naza 206 Bestari

The fact that Naza 206 Bestari (formerly known as NX02) is based on Peugeot 206 is not suprising, but that it is an exact copy does. Other than the badge, Bestari is an exact copy of Peugeot 206. Even the tyre rims are Peugeot’s. However, it does not make Bestari a bad car, as it is based on a best-selling model. Naza and Peugeot can easily export it with Peugeot badge to ASEAN countries. The only thing that needs to be done is to comply with the local content requirement to ensure that it can be taxed at AFTA rates.

206 Bestari has a 1.4-litre engine with auto transmission, ABS and airbags. Manual transmission will come soon. At RM69k, the price is quite competitive against its direct rivals such as Hyundai Getz, Chevrolet Aveo, Suzuki Swift, Honda Jazz, Toyota Yaris etc. However, in terms of local brands, it is quite expensive. For example, Waja that is bigger than Bestari is available at RM60k. Most direct rivals mentioned are priced higher than RM69k. However, Inokom Getz will be coming soon and should be priced competitively against Bestari. The fact that local contents are low could be the factor that Bestari is priced as such.

Bestari is based on a good car but it is already at the end of its life because Peugeot has come up with 207 this year. However, 206 will continue to be sold at some markets for quite some time yet, and Naza 206 Bestari is one of them. Have a good look and Bestari and decide for yourself if it is the one for you.
